Listening to Albertans
January 24, 2012
This week marks our Government’s latest initiative in our ongoing efforts to meet Albertans where they live, and hear first-hand what your issues are.
Monday is the first day of a cabinet tour that will see myself and groups of Ministers fan out across the province.
During the leadership campaign, I heard many times that people wanted a government they feel more engaged with.
They want a government that doesn’t just pay lip service to consultation, but actually has Ministers sitting down and listening, face-to-face across the table.
Make no mistake, this is not a one-off event, planned in preparation for an election.
There is an election coming, as I have said, but this type of personal engagement will continue with you PC Government.
It’s by far the best way to find out what issues are locally, and what citizens want their government to prioritize.
I also want to give a quick update on nominations.
The nomination contests are almost entirely done, and very soon we will have a full slate of candidates in place.
As I have said, I am very excited about the quality of people who have stepped up to run for the PC Party of Alberta in the next provincial election.
They are bringing new ideas and new energy, and will contribute to the regeneration and renewal our Party is undergoing.
I am very excited about the future as we continue working together to build an amazing Alberta.
